Gatlinburg Tennessee, an accidental stop for us, but it was a pretty cool stop to see. We actually came here when we were visiting the Great Smoky Mountains National Park area and we were looking for something to eat. If I remember correctly, one of the park rangers suggested it to us after we went to visit the Clingman Dome.
Once you leave the GSMNP, we were whisked away to a place that really reminded me of Lundy's Lane in Niagara Falls, Ontario. There is one main strip and all along it were all kinds of shops. Shops for food, snacks, souvenirs and more. Attractions are a plenty here if you are interested, there is a Ripley's Aquarium here, the Gatlinburg Aerial Tramway, Guiness World Records Museum, just to name a few. I can totally see a day spent here if you were so interested, had we known more about the place we could have planned it better but with the time that we had, we just had lunch, walked around a bit and left. It would have been nice to spend more time here.
In November 2016, there was a huge wildfire that went through Gatlinburg and the Great Smoky Mountains National Park which caused massive damage and it was really sad to hear since we were there not too long ago. I'm not sure what condition it is in now, but when I was there in 2015, it was a wonderful place to stop by and go for a walk.
