2017 - California Day 5 (Disneyland)

Wednesday September 14, 2017. Today, we visit Disneyland for the day.

Disneyland - Front entrance
Our first ride was Indiana Jones which unfortunately either broke down or there was a problem because we were stuck on the ride for 30 minutes. However, they did give us unlimited FastPass for the day for our troubles. We didn't actually know what this meant until close to the end of the day.

Disneyland - Star Tours
Did the Star Tours which is a simulation ride based on Star Wars. You sit in a pod/room with a bunch of other people and it simulates you being in a spaceship. It is a fun ride, better if you know a bit about Star Wars.

Matterhorn Bobsleds was next. A ride where you go through the mountain, it was okay. I am told that it is one of the older rides.

Disneyland - Red Rose Menu
Disneyland - Beast burger on the left, poutine flatbread on the right.
Lunch was at Red Rose where we ordered the poutine flatbread and the beast burger which came out to $25.08. The food was okay.

We did a bunch of character experiences and then Astro Blasters which is a ride that is similar to Midway Mania but older. It didn't seem as fun (only when compared to Midway Mania).

Stopped and watched the parade at 3:30pm. I'm not sure what the normal time is, but it happened at 3:30pm today. It was neat to see, I was actually surprised by how long and how much effort they put into the parade.

Roger Rabbit was next and it covers the story of Who Framed Roger Rabbit. It was okay. I don't think I'm as big a fan of these story-based rides compared to more thrill-based ones.

It's a Small World after, it is just like what I watched in The Simpsons.

Disneyland - It's a Small World
Peter Pan, which does not have FastPass access. A ride that simulates the Peter Pan story. It was okay. A very long ride for this one.

Alice in Wonderland was next and was another story-experience.

Disneyland - Dole Whip float
Pirates of the Caribbean was last and it was loosely based on the movie. It was actually quite long and quite impressive in terms of what happens down there. Oddly, there is a drop, but there is no safety belt on this ride.

Overall, I think I enjoyed Disney California and Universal Studios Hollywood more, but that's because I enjoyed the rides more. Allison enjoyed Disneyland more due to all the character experiences here. I must say, they do have a lot of character experiences that seem quite intricate. Mickey's House for example is very big and there is plenty to see before you actually meet Mickey himself.

I do have to say that it was disappointing that they did not seem to have as many photographers here. It made the MaxPass seem less worth while.

Earl's Sandwiches
Dinner was again at Earl's Sandwiches. Tomorrow, we head to Tulare which will be an overnight stopover before we head to Sequoia National Park.
